DC Weather: Cool temps continue Thursday with highs in the 50s, shower chances possible

The cooler-than-average temperature pattern continues today with highs in the 50s. Plan for cloudier skies with a few passing light showers. The best chance will be northeast of the city earlier in the day.

Rain will become more widespread later tonight. Friday will be a soaker with on-and-off areas of moderate to heavy rain. Rainfall totals by early Saturday morning could be in the 1-2-inch range, with some neighborhoods seeing slightly more. Temperatures remain cooler than average with highs in the 50s and a breezy easterly wind.

The bulk of the measurable rain will be over Saturday, but it will remain cloudy and cool with lingering showers or pockets of drizzle. Clouds remain firmly in place for most of the day.

Drier weather is in the forecast for the second half of the weekend, with highs in the 60s and brighter skies on Sunday.
